The recently completed OLSH Centre will be the new front door to the College through the iconic, original Convent building. The main College administration and entry through the front of the Convent leads through to the refurbished internal courtyard. Student Reception has relocated into the building as well, addressing the central College courtyard, and increasing student engagement and access to the Convent building.
The OLSH Centre extension to the north provides a new gathering space for the College community, with views across the oval. The vertical glazing with red glass infills tracks the sun’s path around the building with varying shadows across the timber floors. A specially designed steel screen constructed from twisted blades provides sun-shading, and adds to the interesting shadows through the space.
The Centre includes a new kitchen and Student Café with ample undercover decking and seating tiers for students. A separate Coffee Station can be operated by students and opens into the foyer and onto the deck.
The two-storey rear extension provides an open staff work space with collaborative meeting spaces dispersed between desks. The ground level houses the staff social space, with the new staff kitchen opening out onto the central courtyard.
