Diamond Creek Community
Centre and Library

Nillumbik Shire Council
Diamond Creek VIC, in Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country
2014
$15m contract budget

WRA undertook a Feasibility Study and Concept Design for the staged redevelopment of the existing Diamond Creek Community Centre. The project required a detailed construction staging strategy to meet the Council’s time frames for capital expenditure and fundraising opportunities.

The existing Diamond Creek Community Centre is housed in a 1980s building overlooking the Marngrook Oval. There is an existing community gym, maternal health centre, and an indoor sports court which is no longer regularly used. The mobile library frequents the centre, but there is no local library in the community. The site is an active and beautiful location with sports ovals and access to the creek.

The vision for the centre was to create a new community hub, with options to redevelop and extend the existing facility, or rebuild a new facility explored.

The final Concept Design redeveloped the existing buildings and proposed a staged extension to house a new library.
