WRA, in collaboration with K2 Planning, Tract Urban Design and Rob Gebert Arts Consultants, delivered this significant piece of social planning and infrastructure assessment to inform future planning for an integrated community facility in Lilydale.
The Lilydale Integrated Community Facility Options Study (ICFOS) provides an evidence base that demonstrates a range of significant social trends and needs are impacting the community in Lilydale. Combined with population forecasts and facility benchmarking, these increasing social needs contribute to the demand for social support services, health and well-being programs and social connection opportunities.
The study included benchmarking of best practice examples of integrated community facilities. Examples were chosen for their successful outcomes in terms of:
1. Activation of the public realm
2. Integration of services
3. Use of multiple facilities and programs
4. Integration into the existing context
5. Use of connections both internally and externally
The final study included the development of key design principles and a relationship diagram for future facilities to deliver on these outcomes
