This project provides a sports gymnasium and auditorium to Waverley Christian College during the week and a place of worship to the CityLife congregation on weekends. 

The gymnasium and auditorium bring together the often-incompatible functions of sports and theatre in one facility. The building functions exceptionally well due to detailed design resolution and attention to acoustic performance within the spaces. 

The large foyer space opens out to the forecourt, helping to cater for large audiences of up to 900 people.   

The single court sports hall has been ‘dressed’ and treated with acoustic internal linings to create an ambient auditorium. A 600-seat retractable seating bank at the rear of the auditorium can track forward to create a more intimate theatre experience as required. 

An acoustic operable wall between the raised stage and auditorium works exceptionally well, with a drama class on the stage and a basketball game held with no noise intrusion.
