Williams Ross were engaged at the end of 2023 by Frankston City Council to design the redevelopment for Frankston Basketball and Gymnastics Stadium. The project brings together the Frankston District Basketball Association and Bayside Gymnastics. It will be a facility that welcomes its diverse community and creates a place for people of all abilities to feel comfortable and participate.

The concept will provide a unique community sport experience that encourages families and young people to spend time at the centre, socialising and enjoying the activities. It is located close to the new Kananook commuter car park and at the entry to Kananook Reserve.

The forecourt creates a welcoming place between the centre and the new car park, inviting the community to meet, sit and enjoy the environment. It will connect the centre to the existing Kananook Reserve sport and recreation facilities. The space will be activated by the cafe spilling out into the forecourt with seating and shade.

The new centre will be an all-electric facility with high sustainability aspirations.

The new facility will include:

  • 10x community courts including a Show Court facility

  • gymnastics training and local competition

  • Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating

  • Player and spectator amenities

  • Function and meeting spaces
