In 2021 WRA completed the Santa Maria College Master Plan. The Scholastica Staff Facilities Refurbishment and the Santa Maria College Chapel Refurbishment were Stage 1A and 1B of the master plan, and are now both complete.

Scholastica Staff Facilities Refurbishment

The existing heritage building at the centre of the campus was the original convent and is now the main administration hub of the College. WRA refurbished the upper level staff work spaces and created a new staff kitchen and social space with views out to the Dandenongs. Installation of a lift has provided compliant access to the upper levels.

Chapel Refurbishment

The College Chapel, originally built in the 1970s, has been a central part of College life. The refurbishment project has breathed new life into the building, achieving a respectful refurbishment retaining the beauty of the existing architecture while opening up the space to views out to the Dandenongs. A unique stained glass window was salvaged from the neighbouring convent demolition and installed in the new reflection space in the Chapel.

A small foyer extension addresses the heart of the College with new landscaping and stone tiers leading down to the central grassed space. The tiers are engraved with the College’s values.
