Sacred Heart College, Visual and Performing Arts Centre

Sacred Heart College
Oakleigh VIC, in Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country
2015
$4m contract value

The new Visual and Performing Arts Centre involved a full refurbishment of this iconic modernist building, originally designed by renowned Melbourne architect Frederick Romberg (of Grounds, Romberg, and Boyd).

The modernist building featured an efficient courtyard plan, a coloured glass façade wall, and a sacred hall space.

This project provided the opportunity to strip the building back to its original modernist style; reinstating the original foyer and hall, and creating a new 2.5 storey flexible square format performing space in the central courtyard with a higher roof.

All new materials, joinery and fixtures were selected to complement the modernist style, in a contemporary way.
