Williams Ross and Tract recently completed the concept design for the new Surf Coast Cultural Centre.

Consultation with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners throughout the design process informed the concepts of a gathering place with creativity and community at its heart.

Broad stakeholder consultation informed the needs analysis and cultural facility brief developed by Rob Gebert Arts Consultant. An Investment Logic Mapping process and cost benefit analysis guided rationale for investment and informed the final Business Case.

The limited opportunity for landscape and public realm on the existing site led the design to expand beyond its boundary to activate surrounding land. The concept engages with neighbouring uses and carefully considers the journey across the Surf City Precinct to Torquay surrounds.
